New Sewing Machine – Brother DB2

Last week I purchased a new drop feed sewing machine to use on light to mid-weight fabrics. I drove over to San Jose and met the family at their home, which turned out to be a great experience. The machine had belonged to this lady’s husband who had passed away. Apparently, the man was a tailor in Santa Cruz for over 40 years and used this Brother machine along with an older Singer (which they didn’t want to sell yet). When I opened up the side drawer I found one of his business cards, which his son asked to keep and he started to tear up.

So, I bought it and took it back to it’s home in Santa Cruz. It’s really nice when you meet great people who are excited for you to share a piece of their story and continue it in a certain way. They were really glad that the machine would be used again. Both of my machines have come from a home with an interesting story and to me, that’s a big part of why I’m doing this.
